Hi Wendy

“Hi Wendy.”
“It’s so great to have you here.”
“Hi Rebecca.”
“Thank you.”

Four small sentences from a radio talkshow. Repeated in a lower pitch they become rhythmic waves.

Radio Moscow

“This is Radio Moscow. Here is the news.”

A fragment of an old recording of Radio Moscow. Radio Moscow, also known as Radio Moscow World Service, was the official international broadcasting station of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics until 1993. It was reorganized with a new name: Voice of Russia, which has also since been reorganized and renamed Radio Sputnik. At its peak, Radio Moscow broadcast in over 70 languages using transmitters in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and Cuba. (Source: wikipedia)

Last Call

“Last call for passengers on flight Air France 2049 to Paris, Charles de Gaulle. Please proceed urgently to gate number B43”

A call at an airport, in a few languages.

Michel Pollo

“..chel Pollo, diagonal a telecom locale nummero ocho…”

And more incomprehensible Spanish to me. No idea what this is about. Telecoms? “Systema circulatorio dysfunctione” .. No idea. Finally ended up with Michel Pollo, a special artist with abstract arts, but whether this text is about him? In any case, it produced a nice image 🙂

Let me be clear

“Now, let me be clear, let me be absolutly clear.”
“You have to do what you have to do…”

This is not a very interesting piece in itself, but I do like the ‘swung’ of the melody in combination with Barack Obama’s words (supplemented with a statement from an unknown source)

These words, by the way, come from a speech by Barack Obama from Feb. 25, 2009. Below is the paragraph with the quoted words. In this section of the website is another fragment of Obama, called ‘ Education’. I still have a lot of respect for the man, but here too, it is a big promise. I am curious to see what ultimately came of it.

In order to save our children from a future of debt, we will also end the tax breaks for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. (Applause.) Now, let me be clear — let me be absolutely clear, because I know you’ll end up hearing some of the same claims that rolling back these tax breaks means a massive tax increase on the American people: If your family earns less than $250,000 a year — a quarter million dollars a year — you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: Not one single dime. (Applause.) Not a dime. In fact, the recovery plan provides a tax cut — that’s right, a tax cut — for 95 percent of working families. And by the way, these checks are on the way. (Applause.)
